kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studio – 12-Week Residency

 

kil.n.it experimental ceramics studio is offering one artist or an artist duo the opportunity to lease a studio space for a fixed period of 12 consecutive weeks to complete a specific ceramics project.

This opportunity is intended for artists who are working toward a clearly defined outcome. Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • Preparing work for an exhibition
  • Creating pieces for an art prize submission
  • Finalising a cohesive body of work
  • Producing work for a ceramics market
Applicants must have a specific project planned for the 12-week period.
This is a short-term studio lease designed to support focused, project-based ceramics work.

1 space in a shared studio, with 3 other ceramicists, is available located at The Annexe, in the basement of Glebe Town Hall, 160 St. Johns Road, Glebe. 

Project Period: 1 July – 1 October (12 weeks)

STUDIO DIMENSIONS: 3 x 4 square meters.

  Studio includes:
  • Shelves

  • Sink and small clay-trap

  • Work bench

  • Toilet (within Glebe Town Hall)

  • Access to use the Members Workshop when it’s not booked at the Nurses Quarters, 184 Glebe Point Road. This is a fully equipped workshop with electric wheel, extruder and other equipment.

  • Artists rate on full kiln hire – available weekly – booked through emailing Kil.n.it Studio manager at hello@kil-n-it.com
Please note there is no direct kiln access at the Annex location. Kilns are located at our main location at the Nurses Quarters, 184 Glebe Point Road. Assistance to transport artwork for firings is possible in agreement with the Studio Manager.
 
ELIGIBILITY
 
To be eligible to submit an Expression of Interest:
  • Ceramics must be at the centre of your artistic practice.
  • You must be 18-years or older.
  • You must tell us about your project and provide an outline in your expression of interest
  • You must complete an acquittal/survey upon completion of your lease period
  • You must have current public liability insurance.
We encourage applications from: 
  • First Nations artists.
  • People from diverse backgrounds.
